It was the location for the World Canoeing championships on the challenging River Tryweryn, at the excellent centre you can book a white-water rafting experience! Bala Lake has a sailing club and a waterborne activities centre. People come from far and wide to use the lake for windsurfing etc. Bala also boasts a world-class white-water canoeing and rafting centre on the River Tryweryn. The River Dee is famous for fly fishing and there are opportunities for shooting game or clays. Walking is probably the most popular activity and little wonder with the wealth of beautiful countryside that abounds. Mountain climbing is also available nearby. For those who want to try out their 4-wheel drive machines, there are excellent courses available from Bala. The Tourist Information Centre is located at the Lake shore and has all the information you will need to find the activities you require, or maybe you will find new ones to challenge you.
